L'Alpha-1-antitrypsine est un inhibiteur de protéase. Son dosage permet de mettre en évidence, lorsqu'il est abaissé, un déficit héréditaire en AAT, entraînant un tableau clinique à manifestations hépatique et pulmonaire. Son dosage, lorsqu'il est augmenté, est également utile pour identifier un syndrome inflammatoire en phase aiguë.
